Featuring New Work by: Scott Addis, Larry Horowitz & Julia Purinton
Sunday, October 6th – 11:00am – 12:30pm
5272 Main Street, Waitsfield, VT 05673
Artwork is a staple at Addison West and our team of creatives and designers work throughout the year to source, curate and partner with a variety of Vermont artists and local galleries to ensure they have an assortment that meets their customers needs.
Our owner and founder Monique Bonner has a special appreciation for the arts through her love of design and beautiful decor, and it made perfect sense to host an event at the Addison West Flagship Waitsfield store to showcase local artists, in partnership with Edgewater Gallery, and also give back to Mad River Valley for the Arts – specifically through a children’s initiative. The heart of the weekend is to inspire appreciation of the arts and spark interest in not only this generation, but the next one as well. 5% of sales from the weekend will go towards Mad River Valley Arts and Children's Program, with a minimum of $1,000 being donated by Addison West.
Join us for a fall celebration of New England landscape painting at Addison West. We will be exhibiting new work from three of our landscape painters, Scott Addis, Larry Horowitz, and Julia Purinton, in the upper-level home furnishings and accessories area. The weekend will feature meet and greets with Scott Addis and Larry Horowitz, painting demos, and opportunities to be the first to view new work from all three artists.
Saturday, October 5th, 12:00-4:00 PM
12:00-2:00 PM
Join us as we welcome painter Scott Addis, whose show “Falling Into It” with Kay Flierl opens September 4th at Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury. Visitors will have the opportunity to see new work from the show and meet Scott, learn about his process, and hear about his inspiration for his subject matter.
Scott Addis lives and works in Montreal, Quebec. Originally from rural Pennsylvania, after serving in the navy, he moved to Cincinnati, where he studied painting at the University of Cincinnati under Greg Storer and Igor Babailov. His work is exhibited widely in both Quebec and the US and is held in private and corporate collections.
2:00-4:00 PM
Larry Horowitz spends time in Vermont every fall, making the outdoors his studio and capturing the beauty of the season as he travels the state painting "en plein air." We will be exhibiting select, newly created works at Addison West from 2:00-4:00 PM. Larry will be on hand to discuss his work and process, and he will be doing some finishing touches on his new paintings, giving guests the opportunity to see him in action.
Larry Horowitz was born in New York City and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the State University of New York, Purchase. He has had over 90 solo exhibitions and is exhibited in galleries throughout the US and Canada. His work is widely held in both private and corporate collections.
Sunday, October 6th, 11:00-12:30 PM
Julia Purinton lives and works in Warren, Vermont. As a landscape painter, she embraces a tonalist style, focusing on her emotional response to the landscape rather than a literal translation. She aims for viewers to connect with an emotion rather than a specific location. Her work is known for its ethereal and tranquil qualities. On Sunday, at Addison West, we will be exhibiting new work from Julia. Gallery director Theresa Harris will be available to assist with inquiries about the new collection and discuss Edgewater’s art consulting services, in partnership with Addison West’s interior design offerings.
Julia Purinton resides in the Mad River Valley of Vermont. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts and continued her studies at The School of Fine Arts in New York City. She exhibits widely throughout the US, and her work is included in both private and corporate collections.
