Each Black Walnut Serving Board is truly one-of-a-kind—shaped and finished by hand, then sealed with a food-safe oil that brings out the richness and natural grain of the wood. The live edge keeps every piece feeling like a little work of art, while the handle makes it easy to carry from kitchen to table or hang for display between gatherings. Use it for cheeses, bread, sliced fruit, or everyday prep—this is the kind of board that’s meant to be used, not just admired. Finish, grain, and shape will vary.

Materials

Sustainably sourced and upcycled wood. Due to the material and hand-made nature, each will vary and no two will be exactly the same.

Care

Apply mineral oil once a month to maintain the natural beauty of the wood. Beeswax conditioners help prevent wood from drying out as well as from absorbing too much moisture. Prolonged exposure to water can cause damage; please do not submerge in water or place in the dishwasher or oven.

About Peterman's Boards & Bowls

Spencer Peterman is a master craftsman and artist, magically breathing new life into decomposing wood. Each of the wood accessories he creates has its own unique story and is handcrafted here, in New England. The Peterman family believes in upcycling–taking logs that are discarded and making something beautiful out of them. Normally, local tree service companies would get rid of, chip up, or make firewood out of decaying logs – and that’s where Spencer Peterman came in. They uniquely embrace the natural decomposition process that gives each of their wooden serving boards and bowls a distinctive character. All Peterman bowls use woods local to central New England: the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont forests.
